Welcome to my portfolio! Check out my education experience, work experience, and plans for this summer!
Cuenca, Ecuador
I will spend the first five weeks of my summer enrolled in Spanish language classes through Sampere Spanish School located in Cuenca, Ecuador. In preparation for my independent research project this summer, I applied for funding through the Summer Language Abroad Grant offered by the CSLC to prepare my language skills. Language classes will include 20 hrs/week of group lessons, which include cultural excursions, as well as 5 hrs/week of individual lessons. By enrolling in Sampere, I will be well equipped to conduct my proposed research.
Quito, Ecuador
Through the Kellogg Undergraduate Research Grant, I will undertake an independent research project entitled: Exploring Ways to Durably Reduce Prejudice Against Venezuelan Migrants in Quito, Ecuador. Utilizing a vignette experiment model, I will create a treatment group and administer a treatment by encouraging participants to engage in active perspective taking, also known as system 2 processing. Following the treatment, I will survey participants 2 weeks later to determine their views on migration policy. To establish a control group, I will offer a similar treatment, but the topic will be recycling: an innocuous political topic in regards to migration. The same survey will be given to the control group 2 weeks later. By comparing survey results, I will be able to calculate the ATE and determine the viability of an intervention such as this when attempting to reduce tension between migrants and their host population.
